How It Works
Commissioning a custom piece should feel exciting — not overwhelming. Here's exactly what to expect when you work with Ingrained.
Step 1 — Tell Me What You're Envisioning
Every piece starts with a conversation. Reach out through the contact form, email, or Instagram — whatever's easiest for you. Share as much or as little as you have: a rough idea, an inspiration photo, a room measurement, or just a feeling you're going for. There are no wrong answers at this stage. My job is to listen, ask the right questions, and help you get clear on exactly what you want.
Step 2 — Design & Your Custom Quote
Once I understand your vision, I'll put together a detailed quote that covers the piece dimensions, wood species, finish, and everything else we've discussed. I'll walk you through your material options — whether that's the warmth of walnut, the clean grain of maple, or the character of red oak — so you can make a confident decision. No pressure, no upselling. Just honest guidance on what will look and perform best in your space.
Once you're happy with the design and quote, a deposit secures your spot in the build schedule.
Step 3 — The Build
This is where your piece comes to life in my workshop. I work with solid wood — no veneers, no shortcuts — and every joint, edge, and finish is done by hand. Depending on the complexity of the piece, builds typically take 4-8 weeks. I'll send progress updates along the way so you're never left wondering where things are at.
Step 4 — Delivery & Installation
When your piece is finished, we'll coordinate a pickup/delivery and time that works for you. If opting for delivery, I'll bring it in, set it up, and make sure everything is exactly right before I leave. This is always my favourite part — seeing the piece in the space it was made for.
Every Ingrained piece comes with a warranty and care guide so you know exactly how to live with your new furniture for years to come.
